According to the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) data released by Corevision on November 14, Chongqing Jiaotong university has made a historic breakthrough in two disciplines of materials science and environment and ecology, which are ranked among the top 1% of ESI disciplines globally for the first time, and added a new international honor of high-level disciplines for our university after engineering. This marks an important step in the construction of high-level disciplines in Chongqing Jiaotong University. So far, the university has three disciplines in the top 1% of the global ESI ranking: engineering, materials science, environment and ecology.

Based on the latest ESI data (covering the period from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2024), the university has 881 papers in Materials Science, 8,597 citations, and 5 TopPapers, ranking 1460th out of 1,485 institutions in the top 1% of the discipline; Environment and Ecology has 534 papers, 5,022 citations, and 5,522 citations, ranking 1460th out of 1,485 institutions in the discipline. Environment and Ecology has 534 total publications, 5,022 total citations, 2 high-impact papers (TopPapers), and is ranked 1958th out of 1,973 institutions in the top 1% of this subject area.

According to the library's continuous tracking and analysis of our ESI disciplines, in just two and a half years from May 2022 to November 2024, the ESI potential values of Environment and Ecology and Materials Science of the university have continued to grow rapidly, jumping from potential values of 34.19% and 35.62% to the top 1% of ESI global rankings, respectively. Meanwhile, engineering in our university has continued to climb up the ESI discipline rankings since November 2019, when it first entered the top 1% of ESI, and is now among the top 3‰ of ESI engineering.

The promising data show that our university has made great progress in discipline construction, with traditional advantageous disciplines and emerging disciplines going hand in hand, good momentum and great potential for development. The data of the relevant scientific research database is a fundamental resource for the reform and development of the university, which is to be further excavated and analyzed for scientific decision-making and precise force to help the university’s various undertakings to sustain rapid development.
